Exciting Fire Season

We have had wonderful weather this spring and a warm very dry summer, which increases our fire season. Our fire season has been very active this year with a few large fires in the Woodland Caribou Park and surrounding areas. We did have a small fire near Douglas lake (within 5 miles (estimate only) but with it being reported it was put out by that evening (phew). So of course depending on the wind direction there has been a few smokey days locally in town and as well as the island.

Our days are getting shorter and our evenings are cooler, which are helping with fire season. With less and less fires starting.
